As much fun as it is the think about, Democrats will look as petty and opportunistic as the GOP if they tried to prosecute 47 sitting Senators of the opposing party; it’s unrealistic!

A couple of points here:
• Never interrupt an opponent while they are making a mistake – the MSM smells blood; let them push the issue.
• A well thought out response (See the Vice President’s) can keep this in the news cycle and set the difference between the Parties in the minds of the great uninformed masses of people who decide elections.
• Over-react and you minimize the damage for the GOP (It’s just politics or Cokie’s Fallacy that “Both sides do it.”)

As an alternative, the Democrats could bring a motion to censure the 47, might even pickup one or two of the Republicans who didn't sign
