...ANY Democrat in the WH or seeking that office is going to be subject to continued and heightened republican smears. It's their primary tactic; make up some meme or scandal and repeat it over and over until it either sticks or makes their party enough money from their rabid, bigoted base. NO Democratic leader who dares to lead the nation is immune from their nonsense. That's basically the republican party of today. We'd better be able to deal with this and not assume that it's limited to one Democratic figure or the other.
