(62,325 posts)holiday here. As several people on the news today asked 'why did America choose an entirely different day to celebrate workers, than everyone else?' Not one of them had an answer, and neither do you.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery, if the Soviets and others want to coopt a day when American workers died for the rights of workers, go for it. Sorry, I'm not all scared of 'commies' like I'm supposed to be. Not scared of anyone, frankly. The people of the world are not my enemies, and no government is going to make me view them that way.
If you have photos of Sarkozy's little attempt to coopt the limelight with his very own May Day group, feel free to post them. I do have other things to do, so sorry I could not post every single photo from around the world. I know what he did, it was typical of him, the little rightwing weasel that he is.
