(18,186 posts)that the people of Ferguson are very long-suffering people. To put up with what was in that report is just beyond what any community should have to bear. The courts and cops of Ferguson made it nearly impossible for any of the citizens to get ahead. The courts and cops of Ferguson treated the citizens of the town as merely ATMs they could abuse and exploit at will.
And yet, Mike Brown's death was the first murder of the year. ( I consider it murder, YMMV .)
I was thinking that the fact that Ferguson residents hadn't already been killing cops was a testament to their strength and character. What Ferguson PD and Court systems have done to that community is enough to drive anyone over the edge.
I worried that outsiders might read the report and become obsessed and outraged. Human beings - NORMAL human beings - have a visceral, immediate reaction to blatant injustice, exploitation and abuse - which the people of Ferguson have been enduring for some time.
Looks like somebody did just that. But their actions were cowardly and stupid.
I don't like the way some cops see no value in most human life, but I'll be damned if I'll be like that ( except when it comes to greedy sociopaths - they have zero value to me ) . I hope both cops are okay and that some healing can happen soon.
