71. Belief in a magical sky daddy who grants wishes and punishes evil doers.

Why? Simply because out of this whole vast Universe of billions and billions^® of galaxies, stars, and planets, the magical sky daddy picked out a patch of desert on one tiny planet and, according to "The Book" everything important that sky daddy ever did, was done right there on that sad little patch of real estate.

How could a story so patently absurd be taken seriously?

I can't see the other side because there is no single, rational other side. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of conflicting, equally irrational "other sides".
