In reply to the discussion: 5 years probation for a Gang Rape---Man this is fucked up! [View all]NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)82. Would need to know a lot more but I can see how that would be "acceptable".
Five years is one third of his current life. It will also mark his record. If the other "boys", including the ring-leader decide to go to trial, I am hoping there is an agreement in place for this person to testify against the others. It appears two of the older "boys" have yet to decide their direction within the system. I am also hoping there is some form of counseling that goes along with his sentence.
What do you think his sentence should be? You have stated that it is fucked up that a fifteen year old is sentenced to five years probation without stating what isn't fucked up. Every bit of it sounds fucked up to me.

If the girl is being gang raped, does she have to tell "NO" to each attacker individually?

The article refers to him as a former football player. He was and is a juvenile.

I was thinking the same thing. I hope he made a deal to testify against the others.

The same loser. He fantasizes all day about hating black people and posts it here.

I would say hold him till he's 21 or so - at the least - and monitor him closely.

To direct file in Florida the perp must be at least 16 at the time of the offense, right?

I am not questioning that the girl was sexually assaulted by a group of boys. She was.

I am thinking prosecutor has DNA evidence on the two charged as adults, but not on the others?

The guy did participate in a gang rape. That's not exactly "no reason." n/t

Wasn't the first who sent it in, just got the notification that it'd been alerted on previously.

What precisely leads you to believe his sentencing is predicated on "no reason?" You seem emotional.

I am a rape survivor and I am appalled that these boys are not going to jail.
