There's a difference between a man holding a door open for a woman out of respect and holding it open because he thinks she's too dumb or weak to open it for herself.

Likewise, while many white liberals are fighting for racial equality for African-Americans and other minorities because they think minorities are deserving of respect, there are sadly also some with a very condescending view toward minorities.

It's a repackaged form of white supremacy. Even if they aren't looking to put African-Americans back on cotton plantations, their desire to help African-Americans comes from the same view that they are too dumb and weak to help themselves.

That's why some whites who claim to be progressives are very eager to tell minorities what they should and shouldn't consider racism and why they take opportunity to point out things they perceive to be racial double standards.

I'm sure if you press some of them hard enough on the subject, they'll claim they really aren't racist because they have a black friend
