i've known a good number of gay republicans and not one of them would i actually describe as self-loathing.

every single one of them viewed the republican position on gays as a negative, but said they weren't going to based their entire political orientation on that one single aspect. after all, they defined themselves as more than just being gay. they also had an interest in taxes, national security, or whatever. on balance, they felt republicans were more in line with their stance on most issues. not gays, obviously, but on most issues. or at least on taxes, which often is a single-issue determinant for republicans.

so, yes, i'm surprised that any gay republican could suddenly have a problem with the republican attitude towards gays. what's changed, really?

if they're upset now, why weren't they years ago?
