local npr radio station is KQED and KAWL, KCMS, and there's a couple of other smaller ones - I don't do cable or sat. I just use digital tv antenna for local tv stations (including all the pbs stations) I even get English speaking German, French, Japan and other International news feeds. some vis a vis MHz World. all through my indoor tv antenna. I also use Roku for streaming other sources.

No contracts monthly bills or subscription fees. obviously, I don't have access to CNN or MSNBC nor do I want it. For years I paid exorbitant fees for cable and/or sat for 2000 channels of mostly garbage, especially wrt to "cable news". Screaming at my tv listening to these shills spewing bullshit and hype day after day, hour after hour.

For years I vowed to cut the cord, but it wasn't until economics forced it's hand in my life and finally did. When I think of all that money that I wasted supporting the very Corporations who act against my interest, it amazes me that I continued on with it as long as I did. I kept hoping MSNBC would finally meet at least half of my expectations when they hired Maddow, but then Olberman was canned and Rachael lost her edge with me, especially with her silly schtict.

So I continue to seek alternative news sources mostly on-line, and put up with PBS news hour to be briefed on what's considered of national importance, local news for local information. At this juncture I generally know what I'm not hearing about from those sources, because I've already pursued from my alternative, it's often interesting to compare how the same news item is delivered, what level of importance certain aspects of the story is given or not, and what's being omitted. ..

I really encourage folks to cut that cord. get a set of rabbit ears, roku or chrome cast, internet. It'll preserve your sanity, you'll find yourself better informed, and save a whole lot of money to boot. !
