(5,961 posts)2016 is going to be a very different election than 2008, and I don't necessarily like our chances even if Hillary runs (and I don't like our chances at all with any other candidate). There are a large group of not particularly partisan voters who basically will think "OK, we gave Obama eight years...now it's time to give the other party a crack at it." However, at the end of the day, I think Cruz is running against Susana Martinez and Marco Rubio for Veep. I think their nominee will be either Christie, Walker, or Jeb. Christie is down right now, but I think he'll eventually emerge to be the guy. Walker will be dogged for not being a college grad (though that will appeal to some voters); the Bush name is still damaged goods; Christie is liked by independents, and the prospect that he could deliver Jersey and maybe also grab votes in NY and PA makes him appealing.
