36. I used to operate a John Deere 310 hoe. There are now hybrid diesel excavators:

Think of all the time your backhoe sits idling, doing no useful work.

Actually, diesel hybrids are decades old, just haven't moved to the construction industry until recently.

Diesel locomotives are hybrid-electrics. Very sensible way to go!
