(24,487 posts)My limited understanding of how this process works (campaigning, primaries, elections, etc.) is that there is really very little hard money needed to get a name on the ballot and to travel to the necessary states, conventions.
Most of the $$$ needed goes into the pockets of Main $tream Media, paid consultants, fancy shindigs, etc.
The M$M is already bought and paid for by the plutocrats and shoveling wads of cash into their advertising maw is not really going to affect their slanted reporting. Paid consultants and sycophants aren't worth a penny on the dollar. Smart volunteers are worth an infinite amount more.
Instead of expensive convention halls let's have open-air gatherings around the country. Let's use the 99% megaphone from Occupy Wall Street to advertise. Let's canvas the US neighborhoods with sincere volunteers rather than blast paid political advertisements on T.V.s.
With an approach like this and sufficient populace enthusiasm, a ticket with Bernie or Liz on it is possible, and it could be a winning ticket.
