(27,498 posts)31. I never understood the practice of blurring the license plate number.
How is that identifying to anybody whithout DMV or police records access?
The plates are purposely placed where everyone can see them and the records are protected so few people can access the record data.
The numbers on that plate means nothing to me. Just like the thousand plates I will see on my long drive home today.

Someone could make a copy of that license plate, and it would check as valid in a police scan.
