(3,795 posts)And, I am "far left" according to many within the Democratic Party now (especially according to those who are in elected office) because I don't believe we should give ANY ground on the New Deal policies and ideals (we should strengthen by expanding them; not cutting them).
The far left movement (not the "far left" movement and there is a difference) needs to grow if we are ever going to begin to reverse the trend we CONTINUE to go down in this country.
When FDR was able to pass the New Deal there was a much stronger leftist movement in this country. Now we have income and wealth disparity that exceeds that of the gilded age, but the far left movement is nowhere near as strong as it was in FDR's era. It's been thoroughly compromised and beaten down whenever and wherever it appears. That will need to change if we expect a reversal of course in this country.
