I bet that John Lennon would be as proud of him as the various musicians, who have always supported him - ranging from the members of Peter, Paul and Mary, James Taylor, Bono, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Carole King to Dave Grohl of Nirvana.
Peter Yarrow and Noel(Paul) and James Taylor played at a 2010 (I think) 25 years in the Senate celebration party for Kerry in Boston. Bono spoke of how Kerry was the first one there to help on AIDS in Africa in the Senate during the Reagan years. Bono gave him a guitar ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=273x45212 ) Paul Simon - even years later spoke of having wanted him for President (He said the same even more often for Gore, who used one of his songs), Paul McCartney recently invited JK to a small impromtu sho he did in NYC and in 2004, he added the word Kerry - to a few lines in Let it be - "Let it be, Kerry'' (replacing a repeat of let it be with Ker-er -y) in a benefit concert in California for some charity (not political). Bruce Springsteen was everywhere in 2004, speaking for Kerry before he sang and later used Kerry's famous 1971 words as the basis for a song, Carole King was in Iowa for Kerry in the primaries and she and Teresa were both instrumental in the Idaho caucuses.
The thing that always surprised me is that the media succeeded in painting a very lopsided picture of Kerry. In reality, in addition to the very dignified, serious policy wonk, he is someone who easily made friends with all sorts of fascinating people. Many of them have spoken of him in terms not commonly used for a politician for decades.
