The "wating out" of the hard-right demographic to die out can't be taken in an oversiplified manner. By that, I mean it's true technically but it's not a one-time watershed event, and their irrelevance may not be reality in a lot of our lifetimes. It happens slowly in a long shallow slope. They are dying out, and yes, they do have "young republican" kids, but they're being backfilled at a slower rate than they're dying off.

Consider this admittedly anecdotal evidence though: I live and work in a red state; interact with 100+ people a day. I compare notes with those with people like me who do the same, as well as with conservative friends/relatives. Allowing for the proverbial adults bitching about the younger deneration dynamic that's been around forever; a noticeable truth stands out: Metaphorically speaking; I hear about so so many right-wingers basically lamenting on how their kids aren't becoming the bigoted fascist assholes that they are. They're really dismayed over this. That the right is getting smaller just seems to continue this pattern....even help it along as the right gets meaner and more concentrated.
