7. No, they're required to be in a carrier or tied down to two points unless the truck sides are 46".

There's nothing requiring them to be inside the vehicle, and of course it gets a lot hotter than 85 here.

I still see a ton of dogs in truck beds, and if they're tied down at all it's usually done so badly they might as well not be.
