7. Have a similiar story, but with a sad outcome

My daughter and I were driving over the Hampton street bridge in Dallas on our way to my home in Oak cliff. We saw a dog on the sidewalk that runs along side the road on the bridge. We stopped and got the dog in the car, he was too weak to resist us. Once off the bridge, we stopped and got him some water (It was over 90 that day). We could tell he was in a bad way, so we took him to an emergency animal clinic. He had chip and the vet called the owner who said he did not want the dog. I gave them my credit card number and said do what it takes to save him. Later the vet called and said he'd been so hungry that he'd eaten rocks : his gut was full of rocks. He was too far gone to be saved. He was put down and at least at the end he knew someone cared about him.

How can people be so cruel and uncaring to animals, especially dogs, when all they want to do is to be your friend.
