10. I miss the days when a bomb threat was a polite phone call warning people to evacuate...

...instead of unknown devices or white powder sent in the mail.

For one thing, it makes it really awkward for people who do mail art. You mean if I mail someone a circuit board, it's a BOMB?

For another, it makes it really ineffective, almost insulting, to send someone a toot or three in appreciation.

I suppose that if someone mailed you a week-old salmon these days they'd consider it an act of biological terrorism.

Sad days indeed. I never though things could get so bad as to make one look nostalgically back on the seventies. How come the right wing gets to monopolize all the crazy, and they have to get so MEAN with it?
