(2,529 posts)Which I'm all for. Never gonna happen. The privitized correctional lobby and the military industrial complex supporters in congress, which is almost all of them, would shoot these proposals all down and Paul knows it. He might as well be promising them all unicorns. But, the ones that blow me away are the genuine anti-government spending Libertarians. Paul talks the anti-big government talk in ear-screeching decibels. But, the facts are different. He's against federal disaster assistance. Yet, when Hurricane Ike hit Galveston, he had his hand out for FEMA disaster funds. He's taken tax-payer money for his district for everything from trash cans to decorative street lighting. He spent 30 million refurbishing a Maritime Academy ship; 2.4 million renovating an old movie theater in Edna that closed in 1977; 8 million in shrimp fishing research. The list goes on. I know that one site talked about spending 30 million or so to build an addition to a Baptist Church community hall and I don't know how that passed the church/state smell test. This year, he'll get 400 million dollars from the government and 65 earmarks. Hey, you can't keep getting re-elected to be Representative if you don't bring your constituents the goods. But, he's a hypocrite of the highest order in trying to preach a gospel of Libertarianism.
