I often tell the religionists I encounter that I acknowledge there's a creative force in the universe, because--unarguably--the universe exists. However, I don't perceive said creative force as a bearded, be-robed, jealous, spiteful, judgmental, purposeful old white man, who 'sacrificed' his 'only begotten son' to 'save us from our sins.' I don't think that such a 'get out of jail free' card helps our species at all.
