Yes, Florida's law also bans anything (civil unions, domestic partnerships) except marriage between man and woman. There was talk also before it passed about the large number of straight Seniors in this state who would lose their benefits if they got married. Apparently, this is all religious based, and really just about what they think is SINNING.

As far as the domestic violence issue, you forgot another aspect of that; lesbian domestic partners. They won't be protected either.
