Jindal: 'Radical Left' And Big Business Bullied Indiana On Religious Freedom [View all]

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) blamed the "radical left wing" and "corporate America" for bullying Indianans into having to clarify a controversial religious freedom law.

"Let's not mince words about it, it was bullying," Jindal said Friday during a speech at a National Rifle Association's 2015 Convention.

Jindal's comments come after Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R), under national criticism, finally gave in and moved to clarify a controversial religious freedom law that opened the door to businesses refusing to serve customers on the grounds of religious objections. The law won criticism of major American business leaders and Pence was forced to defend the law before ordering the legislature to clarify it.

"This was an attack on our Constitution," Jindal said. "It was an attack on the fundamental right to speech and association and the free exercise of religion. It was large corporations, it was Hollywood, it was the media elite saying we don't care about the first amendment."
