The "system" killed Walter Scott... [View all]

If I were on a jury, I would find the cop that shot Walter Scott guilty of manslaughter. I would not convict him of murder. It was our criminal justice system that killed Walter Scott.

The cop thought he had the "right' to shoot the black man as he tried to escape. Tens of thousands of cops in this country would have done the same thing. It is ingrained within our system.

Cops believe they have a right to command you to "get on the ground" for any reason and if you refuse, they have the authority to shoot you. Not just to shoot you but to kill you. It doesn't matter if they are threatened or not.

Police departments across this country have made an effort to hire veterans of the Afghanistan and Gulf Wars. They have attained military equipment, vehicles and guns, that make them look like an occupying army on our streets.

The killing in North Charleston, South Carolina was "systemic" murder. The cop that pulled the trigger is not a rogue cop. He is more of a scapegoat. The "system" is the murderer. It should be put on trial and convicted.
