How long has it been since Democratic President was elected 3 times in a row? [View all]

In my entire lifetime it's been 8 years of Dems, (sometimes only 4), then a Republican for 8 looooooooooooong and hideously destructive years.

Given that rather hideous pattern, what hope have we in 2016, particularly when Republican candidates have unlimited money floating around to buy them a Presidency with?
