Up until the 1990s, most Americans, regardless of race, thought interracial marriage was wrong, up until that time, were they right because they were the majority? No, of course not, if most Catholics are against same sex marriage, does that make them right? No, but a couple of things, first, most Catholics in the United States aren't against same sex marriage, and second, the Church is, so there is a disagreement between laity and church, happens all the time. Mentioning that the Church, which funnels millions of dollars into organizations that try to preserve discrimination against LGBT people in all aspects of life, is wrong is pointing out a fact.

Oh, and, side note, if their Church is right about the fundamental nature of the universe, woe on all of us, such a cruel god they worship!
