(135,425 posts)1. DU hasn't had the best track record when it comes to picking successful candidates--there are more than a few Don Quixotes here. These people think that wishing and hoping is the same as working for a candidate. They also think wishing will change a politician's mind.
2. The new DU3 encourages socks, zombies and trolls, unfortunately. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who these people are. You can't come out and say as much, but anyone with a bit of intuition can pretty much spot 'em. MIRT can only do so much.
3. Juries, in an effort to OVER-compensate and show everyone how reasonable they are, will leave a post even if it sticks in their craw because they don't want to "censor." I'll admit I was more willing to give people the benefit of the doubt at the outset, but now I keep both the SoP AND the TOS in mind on the rare occasion I am called to a jury. And if people are behaving like shitheads, calling DUers names or making fun of them, personally, I have no patience for their "free speech." They're free to pull that shit ELSEWHERE!
4. Some posters get passive-aggressive while hiding behind a claim of "satire." It's not "satire," often as not, it's trolling. But it's right under the radar, You Better Believe It!!!
All I can say is, come on, end of primary season! I hope the admins pull out the scythe and start hacking away with no mercy once that magic line is crossed--I come here to hear Democrats discuss issues in a productive manner--I don't come here to see Democrats being trashed, and that IS what I'm seeing all too often. Policy differences are one thing--vague accusations based on photographs at official events, guilt-by-association games, pantsuit and voice and "hair do" insults...I think people who pull that shit deserve a tombstone, but that's just me.
