People have always done dumb things and perpetrated scams and all that other stuff. The Internet makes it easier to spread the crap, but it's people that are doing it. "The Internet" isn't "falling for obvious trolling" any more than telephones are responsible for phone scams. People are doing it. They are the trolls and the trollees. If you want people to be less dishonest, evil and stupid, good luck with that.
