I was bitten, all over my face about ten years ago, never saw what it was and the affects didn't present for a couple days but whatever it was, it totally messed up my face for three months. Looked like I had a bunch of circular 3rd degree burns complete with red, shriveled skin with disgusting pustulating blisters, I couldn't stand to look in the mirror as a whole third of my face was affected and looked so gross. Now, all these years later, I still have red discoloration like mild sunburn but I have everlasting nerve damage, can feel pressure but not temperature like bitter cold. Plus, when I am bitten by mosquitoes or whatever now, it makes the stuff on my face act up and makes me feel crappy like I have a mild flu. Unfortunately, I have been bitten three times in the last ten days, I have come to accept that poison for spiders is my best survival tool. I have "hosed down" my cabin with some nasty stuff today but I bet I won't be bitten again for a while... at least not in the cabin. I don't like killing things as a rule but a spider in my home becomes a dead spider as quickly as I can smash it. Some folks say it was probably a Hobo spider, had them all over the place in Idaho a long time ago... probably wasn't a brown recluse since it didn't eat away my face flesh, otherwise my nose, upper lip and half of both cheeks would be gone. Just left me with a few residual issues that can be managed without a lot of trouble. I have to wear hats whenever outside now and overhead lights bother my eyes.
I should be okay soon since I figured out about the bites early on this time and put slices of garlic on them over night, it's said garlic helps draw the poison out. Probably does, the garlic pieces were a funky shade of green/brown when I removed them... not like when you just leave it out on the counter.
Anyway, a thunderstorm is coming over the pass so I will probably have to get offline for a spell.
