(172 posts)It is true that there are more biological males who identify as female then vice versa. There are also more men who identify as gay then women.
When it comes to both gender and sexuality, women more often fall on a continuum. There are more women then men who identify as bisexual, more straight women who admit to same sex attractions / experiences, and likewise more gay women who claim attractions to the opposite sex. Not that they all do, but it appears to be more frequent.
Personally, I think it is both biology and society that makes women's gender and sexual identity less black and white. Most people will claim it is just society, because there are legitimate reasons for believing that society is more tolerant of women blending gender lines. However, biologically women have more 'holistic' brains, with the corpus callosum (the part of the brain that bridges the two hemispheres) being thicker in women. Who knows what other biological factors may contribute to the sex differences? As with most things, I believe there are multiple factors from the environment and biology.
