(68,918 posts)used the social media to shame all of us who had not posted about Nepal. Because it's important to take a moment out of playing Candy Crush to do that.
I call it Slacktivism. Someone wants to have a sweet little article written about how "heroic" he/she was in setting up a GoFundMe or creating a unique "hashtag." (which my dad still refers to as "pound sign," and I love him for it)
The rest of us? We feel bad, possibly donate to funds that are available 24/7 and HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS for just this sort of thing (see: Red Cross, World Vision, etc.) and move on.
I wait with breath held for Bono/Bruce Springsteen/Heidi Klum/insert name of other celebrity looking to bring attention to him/herself to announce a "televised benefit concert for the 'People of Nepal'"
