There is the notion that money makes everything OK. That is, if you have a good job and the lifestyle that goes with a good income, the other problems will not bother you. As it applies to black Americans, the theory says racial discrimination is easy to shrug off if you have economic security. It also says money protects you from discrimination, so you won't be hassled if you're doing OK. This theory seems to apply, to some extent, to everything except police activity. The police just can't seem to ease up on black men, so driving a BMW and wearing a nice suit might not give you a pass. I suppose the police are so afraid of black men, they react instinctively, and we have seen little improvement over the years, so I don't know where this is going.
