Santorum gives Romney lamest. Endorsement. Ever. [View all]

We’ve not quite settled on what was the lamest part of Rick Santorum’s endorsement of Mitt Romney….then again, what would you expect after the super PAC that supported Mitt drubbed Santo in the GOP primary by with $9.4 million in deceptive or misleading ads.

Hard to work up a good pom-pom wave after getting a beatdown like that. We’ll see if Santo changes his tune when he appears on “The Tonight Show” tonight with Jay Leno.

Was the lamest part the fact that Santo dropped the nod at 11:15 p.m. eastern time Monday, when the elite media had already drunk their warm milk and gone to bed. Or the fact that he dumped the endorsement on his website. (Visit any EX-presidential candidate sites lately?) Or the fact that he used the word “I” nearly two dozen times in his statement. Or the fact that he waited until paragraph 13 of the 16-paragraph note to officially endorse Mitt? Or the fact that he spent most of the statement expressing his differences with Romney?

Let’s travel back, back, back in time…to a few weeks ago…to remind us of a couple of the things Santo said about Mitt during the campaign:

In Ohio just two short months ago, Santo called Mitt a liar. (For when Mitt saying on the campaign trail that he always opposed a health care mandate — except when he wrote in 2009 that President Obama could use the Massachusetts plan he passed as governor as a blueprint.)
