Even in poorly funded schools there are imaginative teachers who find ways to stir their students' interest and thirst for knowledge. We all have had good and bad teachers. The good teachers we remember through life. I still think fondly of my high school history teacher. She was imbued with passion and made us feel as if we were actually living history.
I don't accept that kids in poorly and underfunded schools are condemned to a life of poverty. That's a defeatist attitude. While politicians twiddle their thumbs, these kids' lives are passing them by. They can't wait for the perfect world where someone finally decides to give their schools the much needed funding that they deserve.
