When my husband and I applied for our marriage license, we were asked (1) were we of the age of consent and (2) were either of us involved in a marriage. When the JP married in our apartment, God was not mentioned. I checked the license; it says marriage. All officialdom from the federal gov't to the local town office says we're married, not civil unioned.

Same sex couples should have exactly, not something, like that.
