The primary purpose of charter schools is to allow scumbag profiteers to tap into the golden goose egg of tax payer dollars that go toward education.

That charters schools cut into teacher's unions is an added benefit.

BTW, the power of teachers unions relative to democratic politics is waning, charter schools or not. Overall, yes, more liberals, progressive and democrats, but there is are a bizarre number of "conservatives" in the teaching ranks, today.
