Same thing he did with Amanda Knox, about whom he opined that the evidence for her guilt was clear -- though the only thing clear was that he wasn't the least bit familiar with the case. (The High Court finally and permanently declared she did not commit the crime.)

Alan craves media attention, and he gets it by shooting from the hip and being a contrarian.This is another example.
