appreciation for that movie increases every time I watch it. I think its almost more about politics than slavery. Or perhaps the victory over politics. You really gain an appreciation for how Lincoln masterfully achieved the greatest change in our history which might never have been accomplished except in that precise moment of history ie before the South could re-enter the Union and screw it up. Of course, traditional politics rolled back so much of those achievements once Lincoln was gone. But few American Presidents could have maneuvered around such great obstacles
