The Structure of Scientific Revolutions?

In it he points out that when a new scientific paradigm is born, it is the younger scientists who take it up & run with it. The old guys cling to the previous theory & snipe at the "whippersnappers" with their new nonsense. The change of paradigms becomes complete when the old farts die off.

I suspect that we're experiencing some variation on that.

Which is scarier than shit. I'm 70 now. I guess I can only hope my lifelong rebelliousness will sort of inoculate me against ideological rigidity.
