8. If this was "at no time a viable plot" and as Brennan said "did not pose a threat to the public,"

are we to believe this was a scary threat or are we being manipulated by a government that seems eager to tell us stories that may or may not be accurate. I can feel the arrows coming, but it's hard not to be suspicious - will this just be another reason to spy even more in the name of "security," is it a political move to boost counterrorism budgets, is it real?
