In reply to the discussion: All it took was Bernie to turn DU into a bunch of NRA apologists! [View all]NYC_SKP
(68,644 posts)60. No. The Tobacco Lobby argued that their products were safe, but they weren't.
Smoking was not a harmless act, it is a dangerous substance, and addictive, and the industry lied about it.
Guns are like cars and knives and drano, safe if used according to instruction, but dangerous enough to be regulated within reasonable limits.
These things are not at all alike.
Nice try, tho!

Like I said. Immunize them all, don't let the courts decide, more rights for corporations!

And again, I'm right. You can take anyone to court, and if it's a baseless suit,

Yes they did. And the auto industry. All industries, really. They're all "special".

How silly that that U.S. has so many more gun deaths than most of the civilized world.

No, I've totally changed my mind. So persuasive are the NRA talking points, that

Please describe this special immunity, when did it become special for someone not being able to sue

You can also sue the gun manufacturers for anything you want, and the same rules apply. eom.

It's intent is to shield gun manufacturers from liability. Obviously you are in favor of that.

Unrealistic, huh. I guess that's why the gun manufacturers needed special immunity.

Yes, special immunity. That's exactly what the law that Bernie voted for was about.
