In reply to the discussion: Ron Paul: Black lawmakers oppose war because they want the money for food stamps [View all]RandallBurns
(5 posts)68. So what's the problem?
I will freely admit I would rather see the money spent on war spent on domestic priorities. i would also be willing to grant Paul a chunk of the broad tax cuts he wants on one simple condition: that if the assets of the upper 1% continue to grow faster than the media assets of US citizens that we would impose a direct, progressive tax on those increased assets at rate of 1-4%/year. Where Paul's economic theories deviate from reality-and classica economics-is his claim that his tax cut policies will improve the economic welfare of the clear majority of US citizens. According to Ed Wolff of NYU the only to improve their financial condition since 1980 are the upper 1%-folks with more than $5 million in assets.

OP
Food stamps not only feed the needy and prevent human misery, they stimulate our economy.

While it's bullshit, what's wrong with preferring to use tax dollars to feed instead of kill?

I think Paul's point is that the Black Caucus isn't against war per se, they just want more money
