1. The knuckledraggers who oppose marriage equality

weren't going to vote for him anyway. I doubt there are more than a statistically insignificant number of people who have supported him up to now and will change their minds and vote for Romney instead just because of his statement in support of it. People who agree with the Democratic Party's positions on most things and oppose those of the Republican Party will not vote for Romney even if they are personally uncomfortable with same-sex marriage. It is probably not a make-or-break issue for most people who are already leaning Democrat, but it may increase his support for those who have been dissatisfied that he didn't do it sooner. I'm guessing he will pick up more votes than he will lose.
