The reality is that the broad opposition to same-gender marriage or marriage equality will dissipate with time. As the old timers, like myself, turn to dust, the majority or Americans will wonder what the issue was.

This is the same pattern as those opposed to inter-racial marriage. There was a huge uproar among racists and so-called religious figures as to the calamity that would befall America by making inter-racial marriages legal.

There will always be a minority that is beholden by hate, bigotry, insecurity and general meanness to attempt to impose their narrow views on others. Over time society will drive over them and leave them in the dustheap.
