That's not saying that minor, selective comparisons don't occasionally have some value. But most of the time the intention is not to make an accurate comparison but to wield the evil of the Nazis as a weapon against one's contemporary ideological enemies. I feel that diminishes the memory of their tens of millions of victims and the millions of soldiers who gave their lives to defeat that regime.
BTW, today, May 9, is 'Victory Day' in Russia, where they celebrate the end of WWII in Europe.
