The truth is irrelevant to those who start throwing stones. Hersch's precise claim will be ignored in favor of the sensationalist headline. The fact that Hersch made the claim in question in a private letter and not an article or book will be ignored. Any serious discussion of whether Kennedy probably did approve of the assassination of Castro will not be forthcoming. Any serious discussion of whether Hersch's actual claim that, if Kennedy did try to assassinate Castro, then there was some "rough justice" in his own assassination, will be avoided. The aim is destroy Hersch and not find the truth.
