23. Excuse me, but this is a big fucking deal to me.

My mother and my uncle are both gay. I wish like hell they could get married, because it would make so many things easier for them.

When I woke up Wednesday morning, and heard about North Carolina, I felt like I got punched. Again. One more vote for hate against people who mean the world to me. I felt like a 12 year old kid again, whose mom was called a 'dyke' by the neighborhood bully. That day, my 12 year old self was disgusted that someone would disrespect my mother (the bully won't forget that day, either).

So yeah, it's kind of a big fucking deal. Ignoring the rights of a significant portion of the population is wrong, hateful, and bigoted. It seems as though the President is able to walk and chew gum at the same time.
