(7,093 posts)I feel ashamed (which is different) when I see those headlines belonging to the 80's in the year 2012. To me, basic human rights are a "fucking big common sense issue", just like affordable healthcare is and the pursuit of happiness in anyway we like but without putting others at a disadvantage. I don't believe in marriage, but I do believe in the "becoming" of two people committing to each other any way they want... even by marrying each other. You can't simply regulate love.
I always though that it is shameful to play politics with the life of others, but then we might have finally paid a big price and just finally are moving on. Democrats should not feel vindicated with the news but use this opportunity to look at themselves in a mirror and make a choice of running for politics or running with the goal of obtaining a better future. I am very happy we are no longer compromising with the republicans (compromising=abstaining from taking views contrary to that of the republican platform) in some issues. That is exactly why I am happy today.
