7. statute of limitations at the time was only three years

At the time of the 2006 investigation due to the information passed on to authorities by Harpo Productions that statute of limitations had already expired. Since then apparently the statute of limitations had been lengthened though I don't know what it is now. As I understand it, every state has it's own laws concerning statute of limitations for various crimes.

It utterly disgusts me that there are statutes of limitations on crimes against minor children in particular. A child is not in the position to be able to seek justice particularly when they are still trapped in the abusive environment. How the hell to you tell a mere child that they can't seek justice for the abuse they suffered at the age of four or five against their criminal abuser because they didn't report the crime to police before they turned seven or eight years old and were still forced to live with their abuser? It's sick and depraved. There should be no statute of limitations on any sexual crime whether the victim is a minor or not.
