The fact that they are still calling Josh's criminal behavior over a period of several years "teenage mistakes" shows they really never have taken this with the seriousness that it is. A teenage mistake is driving too fast and wrecking the family car, not groping your four year old sister. That is perverted behavior and the average teenager does not do it, hence it is not a "teenage mistake."
